More About Sean Michael Showalter
Sean was born in Washington, DC. He began playing guitar, singing and writing songs at the age of 19. His earliest influences are the Beatles and different bands from the classic rock genre. In high school he was turned on to The Cure, and the album Disintegration became the soundtrack to his life. Over the years he delved in to Blues, Motown, Funk, Rock, Folk, Country, Jazz, Americana, etc, etc. Bob Schneider has had a big impact on him over the last few years as well.
He’s a versatile singer/songwriter, with a voice capable of singing Rhythm and blues, soul, folk, rock, Americana and country. Unlike many artists who like to go for a particular sound or style, Sean prefers to perform and write what comes out of him.
He’s also a capable guitar player and was enrolled at Austin Community College as a music major for one semester until he realized that he didn’t want to go to school. His leads are very tasteful and melodic, and he tends to “sing” with his guitar rather than blowing people away with amazing speed and technique.
He’s a deep thinker and has a good sense or humor. Both of these are evident in his songwriting.
